These small pastels are quick impressions of a day out golfing with my husband. It was so windy but I enjoyed looking at the colors of the fall landscape. I really like the dull browns, greys, ochres and blacks mixed with the bright greens, yellows and reds of the turning leaves. I actually spent more time looking than I did concentrating on golf today. Winter will set in soon and that is fine with me. I enjoy the solitude and the pace of winter although the lack of sunlight really has an impact on me. I made a reservation for a summer vacation to the outskirts of Santa Fe this year. We will be going to Abiqui and staying in a remote setting but a wonderful casita. I will be purchasing a travel box for my pastels so that I can take them along. I have never worked in plein air but it will be interesting to try. I would like to get the immediate impression down and see how that influences me.

Debora, I have so many things to say to you!!!
ReplyDelete1. I love your new book. What an inspiration. I want to do one too but, need to focus on the work for a while. Thanks for giving me a wonderful example.
2. I absolutely adore your new pieces. You are so good at balancing color as mood. Do you know what I mean? And the motion in your work is fabulous.
3. I am jealous of your plein air vacation. I have been thinking about working outside next summer too. I'm scared and excited!
These are beautiful! Your statement of spending more time looking made me laugh. This fall seems to be especially colourful this year.
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy the solitude of winter and become quite a hermit.
